A Socket You Can Carry With One Hand

4 kg, full in 1.5 hours from the wall, and then you have mains power wherever you are: a campsite, a festival, a van, a balcony, or the kitchen table when the power goes out. Silent, no fumes, nothing to refuel.

Who It's For

  • Weekend camping and festivals — phones, a speaker, lights and camera batteries
  • Van life and day trips — fits behind a seat, charges from solar
  • A short power cut at home — keeps the router, phones and a lamp going for hours
  • Working outdoors — laptop power on site or at a market stall

What Will It Actually Run?

Device How long
Phone charges About 11
Bluetooth speaker A full weekend
Laptop About 2.5–3 hours
LED camping light About 16 hours
Router and phones in a power cut About 10 hours
Camping cool box About 3.5 hours
CPAP machine About 4 hours

What it will not run: kettles, microwaves, heaters, hairdryers or air conditioners. Anything that makes heat needs far more than 300 W — for those, see our TD1200 and TD2400.

Three Ways to Charge It

  • Wall socket — full in about 1.5 hours
  • Car socket — 12 V, while you drive to the campsite
  • Solar panel — see below

Charging It From a Solar Panel

  • Solar input: up to 180 W, 12–60 V (MPPT).
  • Recommended panel: our 100 W folding panel. It weighs 4.3 kg, and with the station's small battery it refills it in roughly 3–4 hours of good sun.
  • A bigger panel adds little — the input caps at 180 W, and panels rarely deliver their full rating.
  • Angle beats wattage: a panel tilted at the sun outperforms a bigger one lying flat.

Using a panel you already own? Check its open-circuit voltage stays within 12–60 V and that the plug matches, or email it to support@giraffevolt.shop and we will confirm.

Why It Costs More Than a Power Bank

It uses grade-A LiFePO4, the chemistry used in home battery storage: thermally stable and suited to being left on charge. The manufacturer rates the battery to keep about 80% of its capacity after 800 full charge cycles: a full charge and discharge every week for about 15 years. It also has a real 230 V socket with a pure sine wave, which a power bank does not.

Questions People Ask

How heavy is it?
4 kg — about the same as a full 4-litre water bottle. One hand from the car to the tent.

Can I take it on a plane?
No. Airlines allow 100Wh in the cabin, or 160Wh with approval. This is 192Wh. Car, camper, train and boat are fine.

Does it work in the cold?
It works from -10°C to 45°C. In freezing weather keep it inside the tent or the car overnight, and charge it once it has warmed up.

Can it act as a UPS?
Yes. It has a UPS function, so it can sit between the wall and your router or computer and take over if the power drops.

Will it run a fridge?
A small camping cool box for a few hours. A kitchen fridge needs the TD1200.
